went with nabil who has exposed me soo much to where my goals are leading me to ( thank you ) to the 22nd asian association of paediatric surgeons at UM.
we were volunteers, and we had to be there by 7am ( i was late for both days ) gahh until 5 pm on a weekend! the only reason y i went was because i'd like to become a paeds surgeon.. but i was flabbergasted by the TECHNOLOGY we have now. there were speakers from all over the world- time for networking :) america, italy, japan, india, germany just to name a few countries where these surgeons come from.
a few things i'd like to share about how wonderful medical technology now is:
1. minimal excess surgery is the way to go! SINGLE PORT LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY so there is no scar coz only the navel is used
2. ROBOTIC SURGERY where the surgeon only controls it- this has been used for about 5 yrs
3. VIRTUAL REALITY where you can practice on your patient before you do surgery on him/her
it fascinated me because these surgeons know their stuff and they are confident enough to speak. also, the fact that most of them are men made me feel like i need to break that trend since i'd like to become one.
it was good exposure, am vry thankful for nabils cousin coz we got in for free when it costs about $200 U.S per day..
Have a Cozy Weekend.
