my prayers

dear Allah,

let what I did today was for the best. and please not let me have any doubts. teach me that patience is a virtue and permit me to let go of the ghosts of my past. here in my mind, let me trust and believe in this. and if we change, let it be mutual and towards the same goal. hear my prayer, as i am never sure bout the decisions i make but i need this. thank you.

idiotic men

my housemates told me bout a 'panggilan hangat' for hot fm from a husband that wanted to ask his wife about poligamy. what the poor hot fm djs did not know was that this particular husband had REAL plans to marry another lady. so the djs called up this lady and the lady was polite but at the verge of tears. she did not agree to the idea of her husband marrying another but knew that her husband was already planning to. she asked the dj why her husband was not brave enough to talk to her face to face. not knowing that she was on air nation wide. at the end, the dj told her that it was a panggilan hangat and she put down the phone.

HOW IDIOTIC CAN A MAN BE?

firstly, i'll be brave enough to say that most malaysian men get married to a second wife purely because of lust. yes, i have met some of my friends parents that have obtained a second wife and treat them fairly, but those i can count. what about the countless first wives who have to endure the words ' sunnah nabi ' when they are not responsible enough to even take care of one wife? bull.

secondly, why go on national radio to actually ask? pure and simple: he is a coward. these men who cannot even have the guts to ask for permission and actually risk of having the poor wife humiliated. these kind of men are not leaders, they obviously do not respect women.

i'm not saying that all men are like this, but come on..how many times have we heard the stories? to all future husbands and husbands. think before u act.

you

hey..hang in there
stay strong and have faith

i'm always there beside you
me and my family are praying..

spine surgery

cervical x-ray [ lateral ]

had a lecture with dr radhii again today [ build rapport with him and he will tell u loads of interesting stories. his lecture was on spinal trauma and it was suberb! did not even feel sleepy for once [ but that could have been the herbalife ]. we learned the approach to a patient with a suspected neck injury but at the end of the lecture it suddenly turned into a surgical approach of the patient pulak with our never ending questions.

spine surgeons have to have really balanced hands since they are doing microscopic examinations and handle nerves as well. so kalau i become one, it's a very sound alasan to say that i cannot miss my meals :)
the idea of working in trauma cases has always been an appeal to be besides peadiatric surgery and i once asked dr radhii is it ok for me to pursue emergency medicine since i am a very kalot person?

he said: ' kalot tak ape, tapi kene kalot systematic. '
nuna: ' hurm.... cmne laa kalot systematic...'

so back to spine surgery, thier approach is soo cool in the sense that they can even do open mouth surgery where the ENT surgeons open up the muscles at the back of the mouth and the surgeons take it from there since we have better access of the C1 and C2 there.

open mouth x-ray

so though it might be dangerous and risky, imagine the adrenaline rush and excitement u'd get everytime u want to do a surgery!! wargh!! [ suke suke suke ]

my yayi

the smile lines and wrinkles on your face
remind me of hardship and happiness
of our talk and your guidance
of all the laughter and hugs
you said to me today
that u hope to live to the day
i graduate
today u gave me sound advice
of which i will make a reality
tho at the end it is all Allahs will

his honest eyes of love
who whispered and sang to me
as he held me in his arms
when i was a baby
and he a proud grandfather
in what we call the circle of life

i want u to hold my first child
later in life
i want u to be at my graduation ceremony
so that i can proudly say
this is the man who taught me BM
this is the man who hugs me when i meet him
this is the man who i hold my greatest respect
this is the man who is proud to be javanese

and this is the man i call
my yayi

dominos

funny how our lives revolve around food most of the time.

so we had lunch at dominos together and 'makan besar', there were 9 of us and i realized that i have spent a lot of money on food this week.

but i would have to say the best thing about today is the fact that leeches and maggots are used as a form of treatment. we had a lecture on the introduction of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative medicine today and i have to say i didn't think that learning about maggots and leeches would be interesting.here i'll give u guys an intro:

LEECHES

the usage of leeches for treatment has been used since egyptian times and was really popular back then, followed by the greek. however, it really got popular starting from the 80's by calling it hidurotherapy. some of the cool facts of leeches are that:

1. local anesthetic
2. anticoagulant
3. initiates local venous circulation

there u go,

it has the shape of a hot air balloon! someone drew rainbows on it but due to the camera megapixel, the pretty rainbows can't be seen.
i think the frame was just made out of lidi penyapu and the shape by crepe paper.

burst tyre

there are nice people in the world!
there we were laughin on the way back from paans open house when we heard a loud 'BANG' and the car suddenly felt heavy. i was like laughing while i said' i burst my tyre didn't i ' and we stopped by the side. the first thought i had was to call my mom so i did, haha she was shocked but she asked me to call the boys. and so i tried calling azrul and banjo but they didn't pick up. in the end i called sys and yeay he picked up the phone! they were all playin badminton and we asked them to come if they could.

while we were waiting [ and they were spinning around looking for us ]
a light blue wira stopped infront of us and a bald, black wearing, cigarette smoking 30's guy came out. and he HELPED US!! he looked at the tyre and said 'owh nie senang nie' and he went straight to work! the spare tyre was so berhabok haha while he changed the tyre we asked him to teach us as well. and he did plus a few skills!!

the best is yet to come!!

so in 10 minutes i had a good tyre and sys with ira came but we asked them to go back. we were waiting for him to name the price but he actually just went of after giving him his card!!

HE DIDN'T ASK FOR ANYTHING!!!!!

i am so thankful and i definitely wanna promote his workshop after this. may Allah bless him with here as well as the hereafter :)

light my path

there are so many different personalities in the world, each with their own unique dreams. i was born into a world that told me if i didn't study and do my best, get straight A's that i wouldn't achieve my dreams and be contented. that excellence is a good job, a good salary and making everyone proud.

but i soon realize that that is not 100% true.

there was a time when i worked a border's and the people i mingled with weren't the one's who excelled in school, they were street smart people who knew what they wanted. most of them only had SPM qualifications but they work hard. they might not have high earning jobs, but they make an honest living. which i think is enough.
today, we were talkin bout how most billionaire's such as Bill Gates, Micheal Dell and Ralph Lauren were college dropouts. these people who i am sure were looked down once upon a time since they were not from Harvard or Cambridge, now earn more than most if us do. if you put someone who was educated, who went to the best schools against one of them, there's a high possibility that the street smart can beat them. they live to survive while we stand so proud behind our great institutions.

my point is, it doesn't matter which elite school u went to, which top university u got ur degree from. at the end of the day, it's your effort, ur work and ur sweat.

500 days of summer!

thumbs up!

"Just because she's likes the same bizzaro crap you do doesn't mean she's your soul mate."

"You weren't wrong, Tom. You were just wrong about me."

"I woke up one morning and I just knew. What I was never sure of with you. "

" So it was all coincidence "

so much about who are we to control the cosmic balance of the world of the qada' and qadar of how are lives might be. we might be in love with someone one day and totally hate him/her the next. we might promise to not do sumthin and ditch it the next day. anything can happen rite? the heartbreaks and drama that we go through in life were actually our own choices. kesimpulannye, really gud movie.

denial

let's talk bout denial shall we.
it took me a year plus to actually look behind the 'mutual understanding' and silence to realize yes i want it but no i cannot trust 100%.
funny that it came during nurkasih but i dun think noone knows.
through all the what if's and doubts which i have and will have the times that i need confrontation and uncertainty.
i guess the underling fact is that i am not sure if it's real. i trust, i believe but i am unsure.
thus i'd prefer to say i don't know rather than face the concequences of getting hurt later.

at the end of the day, as the song goes; convince me that i need this too.

but i can say though, nobody gets me like u do. nobody makes me feel like u do.
we were never meant to be, we just happended but we are inevitable and i thank god for it.

i'm holding on to the dream of u that i had in second year and for the first time everytime i do my final sujud. i actually pray for the best both ways.
u are the BM, insyallah.

in need of motivation

pic-deviantart.com

i know i should not feel like this.
but i feel like i dun have the motivation to be at my best for this posting, i dun know where the spirit i had in 3rd year went. scared, very scared that i'll go spiraling down.
sigh..
no, it ain't the fault of my lecturers. thot of blaming the lepakness of it all, but that can hardly become an excuse rite. i need to find something to make me stand up and realize ' hey u want to be better this year. nope, haven't crossed my mind yet. plus putih asyik rosak je,nyampah.
words of wisdom anyone?
ur welcome.

other than that, i have two songs that i'm repeating over and over again.

"Come home
Come home
Cause I`ve been waiting for you
For so long
For so long
And right now there's a war between the vanities
But all i see is you and me
The fight for you is all I`ve ever known
So come home
Everything i can`t be
Is everything you should be
And that`s why i need you here
So hear this now"

-one republic feat sara bareilles
-come home

so what if it hurts me
so what if i break down
so what if this world just throws me off the edge
my feet run out of ground
i gotta find my place
i wanna hear my sound
dont care about other pain infront of me
cause im just tryna be happy
-leona lewis -happy

dunno they just seem singable [ if there's such a word ] and whateva.

other than that, sent papa to the airport he's off to london and amsterdam for app two weeks [ think chocolate!! ] and am at home made popia for family.

p/s: how come people who seem to be righteously religiously educated sometimes have the loudest and bitchiest mouths of them all? just a thot.

kambing kambing

well, haven't updated the last weekend because i have been at open houses!

on friday there was the batch open house which i have to say was the effort of the dpp gurls and guys plus nabila and faiz but it was successful with the whole batch! it started the night before while some of us decorated the khemah [ shawa, fara ] and me n ki anyam ketupat while some basuh and peram the ayam [ roi, banjo, shahril and nad ] and after that we went home to make the popia and cake batik..

then the next day~
everyone was there!!! almost the whole batch came and it was FANTASTIC!! there was kambing golek from PJ Hilton, mee rebus and potato salad thanks to babe, kuih2 and we had fun..all of us became cam-whores and we ate like nobodies business. and in the end we watched nur kasih at the living room, dat time titibe i felt like getting married. :) but that is another thing, and nik, shakir, farouk, ki and banjo sang [ the night wouldn't be complete without that ]

on saturday it was time to go to open houses! went for neneks [ was supposed to go after suboh but lo behold! woke up at 10. that was the starting of the kambing! had kambing at neneks house didn't know half the people there until bugs came. was very happy that he came and he was brilliant, utterly brilliant. charmed the socks of me mom i think. well after that we went to abe's house in kemensah heights where the real fun began!! it was a beautiful house lots of teak lower floor made of stone and upper floor of teak mostly i think or cendana. the food was also as divine with kambing again and sotong kangkung and abc among the many food. then after that stopped by at ira's to solat and went to ki's house! it was fun taking all the pics and admiring everyones baju. at ki's we had nasi dagang and spaghetti and prayed maghrib there. first time tgk rayyan and he is so cute with his own bahasa. hehe

couple of points that stood out, the fact that we are so close together and it's as if now everyone goes to a function in pairs [ hint hint ]. i really like the not so new pair of my batch and a junior they do look so sweet together and i'm happy for them. i reached a decision at the batch open house. for me to know and for nobody to find out. hehe

p/s: won third for the menganyam ketupat pertandingan!! :)

gud luck nadiah!

so this posting is dedicated to my 3rd sister:

NADIAH KHAIRIL ANWAR

this morning while i was sleeping on zayds bed, she woke me up at 5.50 am with these words: ' kakak hannan tak pegi skola lagie ker? '
i was about to retort that question when i looked at her worried face and realized that today would be one of the most crucial days she would remember.

her PMR.

so i asked her, nadiah ok x? and she said she didn't sleep the whole night. i understand how scary it must be for her. she has worked hard for her exams, we wanted to make a big banner for her but i guess both sisters were so tired.
what papa did was that he wrote on our family white board

let us all pray for princess nadiah to get 8as in her PMR ameen

and all of us wrote ameen in our own handwriting [ mama siap buat jawi lagie! ]
so what i'd like to say is that

you have worked so hard for the past few months
with all the sleepless nights and worried expressions
all the ' u have to get 8as ' that we have said
we accept anything u do
coz we know you did ur best

nads, make our family proud
8a's : ameen, insyaAllah

just read

this is a qoute from an article that bugs forwarded to me. it was a story bout a 21 yr old lady having terminal cancer who insisted on not cancelling her wedding plans in spite of going through hours of chemotheraphy. she had a magnificent wedding and died 5 days later. it was heart-wrenching to read the article. sweet and sad. well at the end of the article these words were written:

work as if it was your first day
forgive as soon as possible
love without boundaries
laugh without control
and never stop smiling

pledge to self; practice this :)

open house hospital serdang

food food food!!!!!!!!!!!

writing this during the batch meeting, sorry batch! we had a fantastic time at hospital serdang, they had a raya open house for the hospital on the 3rd floor [ admin, audi and stuff ]. but listen here:
EVERY DEPARTMENT HAD THEIR OWN MENU

we didn't even need to go to the hospital today since we did not have anything on, but we decided to go since we haven't even attended a ward round for this week and we are kinda relaxed PLUS there was the open house. we attended the CME and hand over, but when we came out of the ward..

pergh, bau SATAY!!!!

and the fact that dr basir the HOD for ortho actually stopped people from doing the ward rounds to give the team the chance to eat before resuming. so we were kinda 'forced' to go :) i think the best was still the kambing and the mee kari, but here's some of the things we ate:

1. soto
2. kambing golek
3. cendol
4. satay
5. mee hun tomyam
6. ketupat palas and rendang
and loads more i can't remember..

tgk laa meena and vic enjoying the kelapa muda and the kambing bergolek golek king
so it was a gud gud day!
p/s: rugi laa my groupmates yg xdtg!

disasters in syawal

it's a wonder how knowing that another earthquake and tsunami has hit different parts of the world did not suprise me.
so far, there have been 569 casualties for the earthquake that hit sumatera yesterday afternoon
where else in samoa, there have been 100 casualties from the tsunami.
the death toll is rising.

i found out that one of our peadiatricians [ Dr. Khairul ] is already on the way there to volunteer. i'm not sure whether he is going under MERCY or any other NGO, but Allah protect him the whole way. if i could, i would be already on my way.

this sends me to a question that has been lingering in my mind for today. why are these natural disasters becoming more common? the number of natural disasters have increased four times more than it was a decade ago. is it one way of Allah sending us the message to stop fooling around with nature and to quit destroying mother earth? or is this some worldly payment for all the accumulative sins we've done? whichever one it is, it's scaring me to bits.
what we define as natural disasters could actually be man-made in disguise, revealed as time goes by and how much we keep destroying earths resources.

May Allah bless those whose family members and loved ones have perished and may He reward Paradise for all the victims and forgive their sins.
